Glenn Reams, Ocularist, Inc. was established in 1985. Glenn Reams is board certified through the National Examining Board of Ocularists, and is a Board Approved Diplomate. He has served as a board member for the American Society of Ocularists. In addition, Glenn has presented educational courses at the semi annual meeting of the ASO. As part of a medical team, Mr. Reams periodically travels to other countries where he fabricates prosthetic eyes for the indigent.
In the event of eye injury or disease, the eye may need to be completely removed. In this case, an opthalmologist performs a surgery called an enucleation. The healing time required varies with each patient. Generally 6 to 8 weeks is adequate. Then the fabrication of the prosthesis can start.
Every six months, you should have the prosthesis cleaned and polished to remove any protein build-up that has accumulated on the surface of the eye. At that time, proper fit and cosmetic result will be evaluated.
